i agree they were better with mainstream oldies.

I don't know if they were necessarily better, but the programming was more focused. Mainstream oldies fulltime with a new feature weekend every Sat & Sun. which was bacially just a refreshing expansion of the oldies brand.

Today WFGR has a male based talk show/giggle fest in the morning, mainstream classic hits during the day, then at 8, the music goes to that 80's sound for an hour, same thing on the weekend. You basically have 3 different blocks of programming.

Ahhh....Mike Gordon. Nice guy. Wished me well when I left WITL to head across town to Kix-94. He even offered me a raise, but I told him it wasn't about the money, rather the chance to work with the old Wittle crew again. He said "enjoy the war", even though it wasn't much of one once Bain Capital got a hold of 62nd Street and cut the purse strings, but I was a part-timer, and he knew that wasn't a concern for me (admittedly, his prediction that WITL would prevail was correct). It was enough to know that we at least made Wittle nervous for a few months.

I think we're talking about two different Mike Gordons here.

The Mike Gordon to which the thread subject line refers does part time on-air work and some other stuff for the local Townsquare cluster in GR.

The Regent Mike Gordon was fired for dumping a 44 ounce coke in the phone system and trying to cover it up.

A 44 ounce cover-up? Ha. That's a sticky mess right there.

Now I know why they want to outlaw that size in NYC.
