Dan in Northville wrote: Wed May 15, 2024 11:33 am I got a good laugh this morning when I opened my email and found this response to a long forgotten email that I had sent to the Detroit Catholic High School League way back in the fall of 2023 asking when the ball/strike change was implemented:

From the CHSL...........

"The spring of 1967 was the first year the Catholic High School League went 3 balls and 2 strikes."

Unfortunately, they made no mention of Ron's deciding vote which forced the change.
I trust CL baseball players are now sporting a black ban on their uniforms with Ron's initials.

Thanks. I thought Ron's obit might have included something to the effect that he was survived by his long-suffering audience.

Was there any photo of Ron just before his passing or in his later years? The photos I see of him look like they're at least 20 years old.

I don't know about the most recent still photo of Ron, but I think this moving picture of Ron - scroll down to 12/8/19 (a rerun from the previous week, 11/30/19) - might be the most recent image of him available online. This would've been shortly before his upcoming ban from the WDTK studio.

Another recent discovery, albeit too late. (Wouldn't it have been fun to have a "psychedelic" Ron Cameron radio show t-shirt?): https://www.instagram.com/lll_the_way_out_lll/

Momo:
Al Avila continues to thrive at Denny's near the airport in charge of the grill on the afternoon swing shift. He is still in denial however on the merits of the Verlander deal but then again Al was never known for having any degree of baseball smarts.
Cheers!

Didn't the guys from the AA and Revolving Door show post some recent studio pictures somewhere, right after Ron's death?

We did, it was a picture of Ron reading the paper on his show.

Thanks. From the format of the newspaper, that looks like the USA Today Sports Weekly publication. I'll never forget the show where Ron solicited ideas from listeners on where to buy that publication, after the big gas station on Ann Arbor Road in Plymouth stopped selling it.

Whether it was that or looking to his listeners to do leg work on a possible new restaurant sight & securing new sponsors, it really was a community effort that Ron fostered.

I heard this song on SiriusXM this morning. It would have been a good song for one of the tribute shows for Ron.
