I just don't think it's going to happen... television has stopped being creative, for the most part.

i think channel 4's current logo is very bland and boring.... completely unfitting for a big-market station with a long and colourful history.

I was disappointed when WDIV changed their logo back in 2002. I thought it was a shame. It was great that they had held onto their traditional logo for so long... that their 1979 logo was still being used all those years later. Even though it, in reality, looked pretty dated by 2002, I just liked it because I respected the history. (I'm a sucker for tradition.) Even when in the later years they used the "Local 4" logo, it was still that 1979 "4". Then they changed it to something completely homogeneous. Bland, uninspired.... a "4" that looked like it could be any channel 4 anywhere in the country.

Anyway, whether or not they change it again, we all know it won't be as good as it was. I'm sure they wouldn't come up with anything better. They certainly wouldn't go back to the classic look. Hell, at least 7 still uses the classic Circle 7, even if they did add the little "ABC" to it.

I thought it was still relevant.

It lacks character in my book.

Though most ABC "Circle 7" pretty much did that anyway.

Most/all of the ABC channel 7s are using the ABC logo next to the circle 7. WXYZ is just following suit. I think its one of the best things they've ever done.

As for WDIV, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually got rid of the 'Local' branding. If they don't, I think it will just be a moderation of some sorts. I wouldn't be surprised if WDIV added the peacock next to the '4'

They've done that somewhat on and off since I can remember. Right now? Eh, probably not. Why associate with the network more than you have to when it's a 4th place network?!

That doesn't mean anything. WXYZ put the ABC logo next to the Circle 7 when ABC was struggling in the ratings, before their resurgence in the ratings.

Most NBC affilates are now using the NBC logo with their own logo. Eventually, WDIV will follow suit. Its only a matter of time.

And BTW, WDIV didn't use the NBC logo at all during the 1970s or 1980s. I believe they did for a time in the 1960s (when they were WWJ-TV) and started doing it again in the mid 1990s, up until around 2006.
