When your $214 million first-baseman drops a perfect throw from the shortstop in the top of the first inning leading to two unearned runs, one has to wonder about the focus and resolve of this Tigers team. It was merely the first of THREE errors in the first two innings and four in the game, the last of which by Raburn led to our blowing a come-from-behind lead against the worst team in the league. :rolleyes Porcello had to be thinking, "What the hell am I dealing with here?". We didn't expect gold glove defense, but is executing routine fundamentals expecting too much? :?

Now we've lost two "glove" men: Austin Jackson is day-to-day with an abdominal strain and Danny Worth was optioned to Toledo.

Don't say that yet, Studwell. Wait a couple more months.

Seems the only concentrated effort happens when JV does his usual great appearance. I like Prince & Cabrera, plus there is good young talent.....but is it me or have Bonderman & Robertson never left?...just reincarnated as Porcello & Scherzer?....just sayin'

Very much, Taliano. Even with the slow starts!

I like Berry. When Jackson comes back, put Berry in LF, use Dirks in RF/DH.....package up Rayburn, Porcello & Boesch somewhere! (Cubs will be unloading...Smardja?) (i know, probably bad spelling of the Notre Dame kid)

Unfortunately, this is a great idea. Porcello and Boesch should be more valuable than this but sadly, I think we have seen their ceilings... Berry is a pleasant surprise.

indeed.

I believe Jackson comes back tomorrow (for the sake of my fantasy team, too) so I would imagine that Jax would still lead off and Berry would be #2. I really like Dirks in the #2 spot, but I can see him being DH at 5 after Fielder. Get our baserunning smallball guys on base first, then the biggies. When Jax and Dirks were healthy, our top for guys were batting over .300.

This makes sense, but they're such a mess... It would suck paying so much for a DH, but you deploy your resources based on how to best be competitive, not on how much you pay them. Put tubby at DH. Put Cabrera at back on 1st, bring up Castellanos. Pull the Trigger on Taliano's move, wait for guys to get healthy. Delmon Young can be useful.

Right now they're 10th in OBP, but 16th in Runs. With what they have on this team, that's pretty sad. 25th in ERA and 24th in WHIP, we need better fielding and pitching. Keeping fat boy's 7 errors on the bench and trying out the kid at third is a cheap way to best use what they have at their disposal. I say pursue pitching.

Agreed, I'd be content with trading for Getz so we could have a reliable 2nd baseman.

V-Mart will be back near the end of the season, he will be adequate enough and add enough to the chemistry of the team. If we can't get any good pitching, and its likely that we won't, then yeah, go 2nd base, but this pitching bullshit... We have one reliable starter, a good closer, Fister is okay, but Scherzer, WTF! Enough of this... Canning Leyland won't solve this.

It's just turned August and our boys are still sputtering.

I don't care if it was raining cats & dogs, I can't bee-LEEEVE the umps called that game last night with it being an official game and the Tigers down 4-1 with the bases loaded and two outs. Couldn't they have waited ONE MORE FRICKIN' OUT! >: They MUST'VE known that if they rolled out the tarps, the game would never resume.

Looks like I'll miss my 90 Win prediction.
