I recently found my stash of Music Guides from the 60's and 70's. Thought I would post a Music Guide from the Jack Hoppus era at WLAV 1340 (Top Dog in G.R.)
Rest in peace, Jack, you were a great DJ (and Program Director)!

How many of us remember any of these songs anymore? Of all of those listed, I can only remember numbers 1, 2, 10, 13, and 19.

Anybody else remember others?

1,2,3,4,13,17,18,19,23 and 33 for me. I might recognize some of the others if I heard them.

Not only do I remember each and every one of those records, I've got each and every one of those records and each and every one of those surveys. Someone has to preserve the history of GR music and radio and I guess I'm the one. Any questions feel free to ask.

I very easily remember every song on that list except numbers 8 and 25. Even the 'Discovery' is easily recognized and in fact, is a very good song, IMHO.

Those of you who don't remember song #34 must not listen to Classic Rock or Mainstream Rock radio very often. These days, it receives more airplay than the overwhelming majority of songs on that chart.

Pretty funny to see Jimi Hendrix identified as "Jim Hendrix," though! :smokin

And how on earth do some of you guys not recognize song #6?!!! Glad to see at least a couple of you recognize it.

I am guessing Jim Hendrix on the LAV list that week was a typo. Appeared as Jimi Hendrix on all of the charts to follow. All Along The Watchtower on LAV went from 34-32-26-20-21-13-17- off on November 8, 1968. WGRD played it too starting at #30 on October 4, 1968 then moving to 16-14-16 in the next 3 weeks and dropped off the chart October 31, 1968. WZZM played it too, but at this point in time ZZM didn't have any published playlists (just changed to the top 40 format full time in September of '68).

And to be completely accurate about who performed this version of "All Along the Watchtower," it was the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
