Re: Another One Gone from WILX...
WILX has been advertising a morning anchor position for a couple weeks. Wasn’t sure if Mallory was moving to a bigger station or Ida was leaving. Now we know.

Re: Really WSYM? This is News?
Emily Wahls is the chief meteorologist at WILX so she will be taking over an on air spot whenever her non-compete ends. Justin Bradford is still there, but appears to be doing behind the scenes work during the day and filling in as needed. Someone is likely to be out as it’s hard to see the need for...

Re: Really WSYM? This is News?
They have known for months...this wasn’t thrown at them at the last minute even though it looks like it was. Looks to me like they are scrambling to make a bad idea work. I’d hate to try to sell ads for this. To my knowledge this has been tried in other markets without success anywhere. The current ...

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
Worst hodgepodge I’ve ever seen. Doing the weather from GR would certainly save a few bucks, but 30 seconds in a hall in front of a TV? No effort! Public access channels would be embarrassed. As far as the anchorless series of videos with no breaking news? Who is that supposed to appeal to? It remin...

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
Well, new WSYM morning news is a strange, low budget affair. No anchors instead using graphics to introduce the next story. Very little local content other than a few feature stories. Brief infrequent weather forecast from Grand Rapids with little information other than forecast for the day. If this...

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
Also will have a very tight relationship with WXMI Fox17 as well. It will be an uphill battle for WSYM when they do the news I just don't see them being a major player in Lansing when it comes to news. I don’t see why they can’t be successful as long as they focus on local news at times when 6 and ...

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
Claire Cameron and Caleb Meute have been covering both stations during the morning. As far as I can tell Emily will take over on WILX once her non-compete period ends. At that time Claire will go back to WSYM and Caleb to WILX weekends (and occasional fill-ins).

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
Could this be where Emily Wahls (formerly of WLNS) lands? The job postings say the application deadline is December 2020 and Emily recently told someone on Twitter that she can't officially announce her new job until next year. Just a thought. She is currently working at WILX preparing forecasts in...

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
My guess is Scripps hasn’t been happy with the lack of a newscast in the 5 to 6:30 time as WILX uses those for its news. I also noticed there were no job postings for anchor or weather...so it seems likely the current ones will be retained.

Re: Darrin Rockcole
Emily Wahls left WLNS last Friday, which means both 6 and 10 have lost their morning meteorologists within the past month. Her tweet announcing her exit: https://twitter.com/EmilyWahls/status/1298376509053382656 She said she's planning to stay in the area, but to add even more intrigue to the story...

Re: Darrin Rockcole
Here’s what WILX is reporting. If not pushed out or a contract dispute, I hope it’s not a health issue.
