Re: The 1968 Tigers - losing our heroes
I thought that Mickey Stanley died a few years back. My own research on the ol' interwebs turned up no mention of an obituary for Mitchell Jack "Mickey" Stanley. Baseball-Reference.com does not list a date of death for him, so I'm operating on the assumption that he still walks among us. I would im...

Re: Jim Price
When was his last game as an analyst? He seemed like he did it until he couldn't anymore. Seems to me that I heard him on a home broadcast perhaps a month or six weeks ago (maybe just before the All-Star Break), and he didn't sound very energetic or healthy. In fact, I was thinking about him when I...

Re: RIP Jim Price
Sad news. He wasn't traveling to road games any more, but I was privately getting concerned for his well-being when he recently stopped showing up for home-game broadcasts too.
Another loss from the '68 champions. Only 10 remaining.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2023
I feel like Scott Harris was in a no-win situation regarding E-Rod. There were three potential scenarios for E-Rod, and none of them were optimal: 1) Keep E-Rod and get nothing for him (knowing that he's probably opting out after this season barring a total implosion); 2) Try to trade him to a team ...

When they did "Take It To The Limit", Frey told the audience this is a Randy Meisner song but we have no idea where he is or what he's doing..
Frey sang lead vocal....

Re: Randy Meisner (The Eagles) dies
Dude could nail Take It to the Limit. One of the articles I read about Meisner’s death said that he hated singing “Take It To The Limit” in the Eagles’ live shows to the point where he would outright refuse to do it, despite Henley and Frey badgering him to sing it, and that discomfort had a lot to...

Tony Bennett Dies at 96
The legendary crooner, who revived his career by duetting with many of the biggest names in pop and rock music while in his 70s and 80s, most notably with the likes of Lady Gaga, Aretha Franklin and Amy Winehouse, died this morning in his home in Manhattan of Alzheimer's disease at age 96. (I'm not ...

Johnny Gilbert is still very much alive and well, dude. Whatever you think of matt1 and his awful wikipedia links, take 30 seconds to do your own research before you go changing someone else's subject line, especially when you're making it incorrect.

Re: Good riddance to Zadina?
So Zadina lands on his feet in San Jose. One year deal for a little over a million bucks. It'll be interesting to see how he does there. San Jose's top two centers are Logan Couture (27G+40A=67P) and Tomas Hertl (22G+41A=63P), both lagging behind Larkin's numbers. Zadina had trouble scoring no matte...

Re: Good riddance to Zadina?
Let Zadina come to training camp and fight for a job. Let him learn what it means to really compete at the NHL level. Ultimately, the Wings can use the depth at Grand Rapids, and maybe the new coach there can tap into something that Zadina hasn’t shown before.

Re: Alan Arkin dies
He was great in MASH, he will be missed. Are you thinking Alan Alda? I just saw Arkin with Peter Falk in the In Laws. Classic great movie and a perfect role both both the main characters!! GW might be confusing Arkin with Alda or perhaps even with Allan Arbus, who bore a resemblance to Arkin and wh...

Re: Heather's delivery of the news on 97.1
During her 9:25 am "newscast" with Stoney and Jansen today, Heather commented a recent French study that discussed the artificial sweetener aspartame being classified as a possible cancer-causing agent. Heather said that the study was leading the WHO to declare aspartame "a possible carcinoginian." ...
